Historically, the Cleveland Arts Prize was a joint program of the Women’s City Club of Cleveland and the Cleveland Women’s City Club Foundation. In 2002 the Cleveland Arts Prize incorporated as an Ohio not-for-profit corporation and received tax-exempt status from the IRS. Its two historic co-sponsors continue to provide support.

Cleveland’s philanthropic community also plays a key role in perpetuating this unique Cleveland tradition of honoring excellence of creative achievement in the fine arts. Foundation and corporate benefactors are acknowledged with gratitude on the opening page of this Web site.

The Cleveland Arts Prize is distinctive nationally in that it is an endeavor of the community, by
the community, for the community. As perhaps the sole such prize in American that operates without government support, the Arts Prize greatly depends on the untiring efforts of its volunteer board and peer juries and the generosity of private individuals.
